This steel structure industrial workshop constructed in Manila provided the client a stable and an efficient work area to carry out their industrial operations. Compared to the traditional concrete buildings, the steel structure solution provided quicker construction time, flexible layout and more possibilities of modification in the future use.

Client Requirements
Before the project started, the client had several clear requirements for the workshop building:
- The workshop needed enough interior space for equipment and production operation.
- The steel frame had to be strong and stable for long-term industrial use.
- The building layout needed to support storage, production, and material movement.
- The roof and wall system had to be suitable for the local climate.
- The structure needed to be easy to transport, identify, and install on site.
- The solution had to balance structural safety, practical use, and project cost.
So, given those needs, Bingfa Steel Structure recommended a tailored/concrete steel manufacturing plant solution rather than/replacement of a standard building template.

Challenge 1: Large Interior Space for Industrial Operation
A major challenge in our undertaking of this project was the requirement to provide ample interior space that could be utilised. The client requested sufficient space, including machinery, production areas and the need to store materials, as well as daily movement within the workshop.
If the column layout was badly designed up front, it will affect where equipment are placed, how forklifts travel, storage use, and future production layouts.
————————————————————————
Our Solution
The column spacing, beam design and roof structure are all arranged to maximize the usable area within the building by optimising the steel framework according to the functions of the workshop.
The steel structure workshop design considered:
- Equipment operation space
- Material storage areas
- Internal traffic routes
- Production workflow
- Door position and access requirements
- Future adjustment possibilities
This helped the client get a more practical steel workshop building instead of only a simple covered structure.

Challenge 2: Local Climate and Building Durability
For building projects in Manila (as well as in other areas of the Philippines), the effects that weather has on building include humidity, rain, heat, and exposure to outdoor elements for long periods of time. If the roof, wall, drainage and surface treatment do not get planned correctly, the building could be subject to water leaks, diminished interior comfort and/or an accelerated rate of surface corrosion.
————————————————————————
Our Solution
Suitable roof and wall materials, appropriate drainage design, and steel surface protection, were the primary focus of the project to help increase the longevity of the building.
The design considered:
- Roof slope for rainwater drainage
- Roof and wall connection details
- Ventilation and indoor air circulation
- Steel structure surface treatment
- Material selection based on project use and budget
Customer can choose from color steel sheets, sandwich panels of EPS, sandwich panels of PU, and sandwich panels of rock wool with options of rock wool sandwich Panel sealed with PU for both roof and wall systems, based on Insulation, Fire resistance and Budget.

Challenge 3: Overseas Delivery and On-Site Installation
Overseas steel structure projects also face the challenge of fabrication, as well as packing, labeling, loading and installation support. The installation team will waste valuable time identifying all the individual elements (columns, beams, purlins, bracing, bolts and connection plates) if the steel elements are not adequately labeled.
————————————————————————
Our Solution
The steel components of Bingfa Steel Structure were preassembled at the factory and the raw materials were organized as per installation guidelines. The steel members were fabricated, inspected, marked, packaged and ready for transportation.
The project support included:
- Factory fabrication of steel columns and beams
- Purlins, bracing, bolts, and connection parts preparation
- Component marking for easier identification
- Export packing suitable for transportation
- Installation drawings and technical support
This helped improve installation efficiency and reduce confusion during site assembly.

Challenge 4: Balancing Cost and Practical Performance
The customer required a robust industrial workshop but managing the costs was also essential. The cost of a steel structure building is influenced by span length, the height of the structure, the weight of the steel frame, materials used for the roof and wall, door, windows, ventilation, surface treatment finishes and shipping charges.
When making a choice, choosing the lowest cost may not be the right choice always, If the structure is not designed following the specific requirements, this may result in safety issues or less usable life, on the other side, If the system is designed too heavy, The cost of the project will increase due to more than required materials.
————————————————————————
Our Solution
Obtaining the practical design from Bingfa Steel Structure based on the actual use cases. The chosen shop structure design was to ensure the proper balance of strength, usability, fabrication efficiency, and the overall project budget.
The cost-control strategy included:
- Optimized steel frame layout
- Reasonable column spacing
- Practical roof and wall material selection
- Factory fabrication to reduce site workload
- Clear material preparation for smoother installation
- Custom design based on project needs instead of unnecessary over-design
This helped the client receive a cost-effective prefab steel workshop solution suitable for industrial use.

Workshop Structure and Materials
The steel workshop building consists of major structural members such as the steel column, steel beam, the roofing purlin, and the wall purlin, the bracing system and the bolts and connection components. The steel framing basically serves as the load-bearing support of roofing systems and wall systems.
Common material options for similar projects include:
- H-section steel columns and beams
- C/Z purlins
- Steel bracing system
- High-strength bolts
- Color steel sheet roof and wall cladding
- EPS, PU, or rock wool sandwich panels
- Doors, windows, louvers, and ventilation accessories
The final material selection should be based on building use, climate, insulation needs, fire resistance requirements, and project budget.

Final Project Result
After finishing the design coordination and fabrication, packing and preparation for delivery of the project the end result was an industrial workshop building that would be a workable option for the client’s Manila Project.
The completed steel structure workshop solution offered:
- Strong steel frame for industrial use
- Practical interior space for production and storage
- Flexible layout for equipment and daily operation
- Faster construction compared with traditional building methods
- Roof and wall system options based on project needs
- Export-ready prefabricated steel components
- Better adaptability for future use and expansion
This project shows how a customized industrial steel structure workshop can support manufacturing and production projects in the Philippines.
